July favourites

1. Thorin's key to Erebor. Since it's my birthday soon, Thorin, king of Erebor, was kind enough to give me his key to the hidden door of Erebor as a birthday present. Or my parents gave it to me and it was ordered from eBay ;)

2. Healing shampoo from Four Reasons. My scalp easily gets dry, irritated and itchy (I know, gross) so I started using this shampoo a couple of months ago, hoping it would help with the gross-ness, and it instantly made it all go away. I don't use this every time I wash my hair though, since it's kind of harsh.

3. Charity Pot from Lush. I've been using this body lotion a lot during the summer months. I usually use it after shaving since my legs get very dry very easily. What's even more cool about this product is that all the money you spend on it (minus tax) goes to a relevant charity in your country. Win-win situation - you give to charity and get a nice product. (:

4. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. I plowed through this book. It's one of the best books I've read in a long time. If you're a raging fangirl, like myself, read it! You won't be sorry.

5. Complete Coverage Concealer from e.l.f. This is the first product I've ever tried from e.l.f and I'm impressed. I didn't expect such a good product for such a cheap price. I love that there's four different shades of concealer in the palette, so you can blend them to your liking and use it even if your skin changes colour as the seasons change.

6. Floral phone case from eBay. This case has been on my phone for the whole month of July. I love the colour of it and I think it has been fitting for the warm weather.

Fairytale forest

I've been spending a lot of time in the forest in the past couple of days. This is partly because the berry / mushroom picking season is starting but it's also because I'm a huge nerd. I am a serious (and when I say serious, I mean serious) fan of Lord of the Rings,The Hobbit, Skyrim and just fantasy in general and if you've read those books (or seen the movies) or played Skyrim you know a lot of those stories take place in big forests. There's just something magical about forests, and I love being in them. Walking through a beautiful forest is even better if you listen to some kind of celtic music, it seriously feels like you're on a quest in a fantasy game of something!
I thought I'd share some photos I've taken on my daily hikes through my local forest. The quality of them are not that good since I took them with my iPhone but nevertheless I hope you feel some of the magic while looking at these photos. (It's even more magical if you listen to this song while scrolling through them ;))

Errand-runnin'

Today it was only kinda hot, which was nice as we've had about 28-30 degrees celsius here everyday for the past two weeks. I figured it was a perfect day to wear my new dress I made last week. It's comfortable and just fancy enough to make you feel like you at least made an effort. I paired it with a brown belt at the waist, my mom's old sailor shoes and my nana's old cross-body bag.

Little white dress

I've been really loving smock dresses lately. I only have one and it's black so I don't feel like wearing it on hot summer days. I've been wanting to get or make a white or some other pastel coloured smock dress. So I decided to go fabric shopping yesterday. I found this beautiful white lace and I instantly knew I had to get it. I also got quite a thin white fabric to go under the lace as it's pretty sheer on its own.
I sewed all last night and this morning because I was so exited to get it done and now that it's done I absolutely love it. It's a more complicated project than I've dared to make before since it's made up of two layered fabrics. I think I pulled it off pretty well though.
It's a really versatile dress, I think I can wear it for everyday causal occasions such as meeting friends but also to more formal occasions.

A little wishlist

1. Pink dress from Asos. I saw Zoella wearing this dress and I fell in love with it. It's just so perfect to me. The silhouette, the colour, the details of the hearts, it's all so lovely.

2. Gentle facial exfoliator from Beauté Pacifique. I tried a small sample of this exfoliator not long ago and I really liked it. I have really really (REALLY) sensitive skin and I usually can't use products like this so I was suprised when this product actually felt good and didn't make my skin go bonkers.

3. Fringed bad from Missguided.  This bag has everything I want in a bad. It's just the right size, it has a detachable, longer strap and it has fringes. I feel that this is the kind of bag that goes with everything and that you could carry with you every day.

4. Hat from Romwe. A perfect hat to keep your head and face protected from the sun on hot summer days.

5. Shoes from Missguided. I think these shoes are so adorable and just fancy enough to spice up an otherwise casual outfit. They're also available in black, but I like the white ones better. They look really comfy as well.

June favourites

Here comes my first "monthly favourites" entry! I'm a bit late with this but better late than never, right?

1. Light nail polish. I haven't really been into light pastely nail polishes before, but lately I've been loving them. I think they look awesome with a tan. In this picture I've put my current faves; Essie's "Navigate her" and Rimmel London's "Mary Mary quite contrary".

2. Wild rose by Avril Lavigne. I absolutely love this scent! It's fresh, girly and light and just perfect for summer. Try it out, you won't be dissapointed.

3. Paper walls by John Ajvide Lindqvist. I've been a fan of John Ajvide Lindqvist for quite a long time. He's an amazing swedish horror author with such a unique way of writing. I've read almost all of his books and loved them all. He always come up with such horrifying plots that are unlike anything else I've ever read.   I read his books in swedish because that's my first language and I want to read his books in their original language, but I think his books are awailable in english and other languages as well. (:

4. I love...coconut & cream exfoliating shower smoothie. I've tried the coconut & cream shower gel from the brand "I love cosmetics" before and loved the scent of it. I needed an exfoliator for summer because my skin gets really dry when I'm in the sun and I decided to get this one since I loved the shower gel so much. This is great to use after sunbathing or shaving. It removes all the dead skin cells and makes your skin feel super soft.

Music favourite: Iwan Rheon. I first discovered this wonderful man wacthing Game of Thrones. He plays the sadistic bastard (hehe, see what I did there?) Ramsay Bolton/Snow. I fell in love with the way he portrayed the character and made him funny and likeable even while cutting of fingers and penises. Then I discovered that he also had a music career and that his music was just to my liking. He has a beautiful voice and it goes so well with the kind of music he makes. I'll paste my favourite song of his, "Changing Times", below, make sure you listen to it!

My week in pictures #1

I'm thinking about making this "My week in pictures" a weekly thing. I'll publish about six photos from the past week every friday, so you can see what I've been up to. My life really isn't that exiting, so the photos won't be that exiting, but maybe it'll amuse someone.
1. I wore a cozy outfit 2. I watched Return of The King and bawled my eyes out 3. I made stuff
4. I made cupcakes, they tasted delicious 5. I wacthed Misfits in bed with my cat 6. I did my nails

Little blue dress.

This is what I wore a couple of days ago when the weather was warm and nice. The dress is acually my sister's, but I like to borrow it a lot. It's really comfortable and light, perfect for chilling at home.
Blue dress from H&M, phone case from eBay, shoes from Skopunkten

Sunday 15 June 2014

I did some shopping.

So yesterday me and my sisters went to Turku for some shopping. I've been on a strict shopping prohibiton for a long time because I've wanted to save money. This time, however, I decided to allow myself some much needed shopping and then continue the prohibition. Here's what I brought home with me:

New mascara and foundation, because I had run out of both. The Lumene foundation is my regular foundation that I always buy, but I've never tried the Maybelline Colossal Go Extreme Volum mascara before. I've only tried it once so far, but I like it!
A top from H&M. I've been wanting to buy this top for a long time, but I haven't allowed myself as I want to save money. This time I went for it and I love it! The colour is beautiful and I love the irregular dots. I normally don't buy crop tops, but this one I like.
A pair of pyjama shorts from Cubus. Because I didn't have a pair and they're good to have in the summer. The fabric is so soft and comfy.
Avril Lavignes perfume "Wild Rose". My sister bought this perfume some time ago. I smelled it and I loved it instantly. It's light and perfect for summer, so I decided to buy my own bottle.
A cardigan from a thrift shop. I've wanted a cardigan like this for a long, long time. A comfy, big cardigan in a neutral beige-ish colour. I think it will fit really well with a lot of clothes. ^
And last, but not least, some fabric that I will turn into clothes. The light blue will be a dress and the navy blue and white will be a comfy and light romper.

Summer wants.

I've been online window shopping a bit too much lately. When I start looking at clothes online I tell myself to just look, not buy, but of course it always ends with me buying far too much and spending money which, in reality, I actually can't afford to spend.
Ignoring all that, I've put together a little collage of some clothing pieces which I think are really summery and nice. My favourites are probably the light blue dress and the bag with crochet details (:

Printed bikini from Romwe (buy here), Skater dress from Monki (buy here), Lace top from H&M (buy here), Cardigan from H&M (buy here), Crochet bag from Asos.com (buy here), Denim shorts from Romwe (buy here)

The first entry.

Hello world!
This is a new blog I'm trying out. I've had multiple blogs in the past but I've always grown tired of them. I have found that my past blogs have never had a specific theme. This blog, however, will. That theme will be fashion and style, which are two of my biggest interests. I've been designing and sewing clothes since I was quite young, so clothes and personal style have always been close to my heart.
So, without further ado, I will post my first outfit of the day:
The tank top is from H&M, the skirt is handmade by me and the shoes are my mum's old. (:

Until next time lovely people!
